The Book Summary : The Deliberate Sinner is a contemporary romance novel from Bhaavna Arora. Is there any way of testing the success of a relationship? Is it right to continue to be in an unhealthy relationship with no conjugal happiness, or should one look for another path? In this erotica novel, Rihana is an adventurous girl with a free spirit. Until she marries Veer, that is. An eligible bachelor with a wealthy family background, Veer is sensitive to her physical and emotional needs. They might appear happily married, but their strong personalities are in conflict. This strains their relationship and leaves Rihana feeling incomplete. Caught in the midst of whether to walk out of the wedding and bear the brunt of society’s ridicule, or to compromise on her physical needs, Rihana begins to struggle. She believes that her needs are the foundation for a healthy marital bond, and she must decide what she must do. Can Veer and Rihana work out their differences, or will she be forced to do something desperate and scandalous?

My Point of View ( P.O.V ) : I feel really happy when I get a book to review. What more does a book lover want, right? So, another book landed on my kitty and I immediately started reading it with gutso. The book's title had me intrigued and the cover certainly gave me 'ideas' of what the book might be about. I read a book on the similar theme not very long ago, but what I liked about this one is the different approach taken and narrated brilliantly. It didn't felt like a debut author's work.

As seen in the cover, needless to say that a woman is the main protagonist of the story. It is a tale of a modern woman ( Rihana ) - her feelings, her needs - emotional/physical, her desires, her relationships ( with her husband as well as her lovers ) etc. But without the stereotyping. A realistic book, it also makes you think, wonder; with an important but subtle message in it. The story dares to challenge existing norms present in the society - however hypocritical they may be. Talks of equality while in practice it exists 'nil'. Men can get away with anything ( e.g infidelity ), but if a female dares to cross the threshold of her home and take such a step, all fingers instantly point at her character.

The characters in the story are etched well and the plot is gripping. A page turner with lots of twists and turns. I liked the female character especially ( a strong, courageous and determined woman who knows what she wants and goes about getting it ); though Veer ( Rihana's husband in the story ) holds his ground too, till the end. Their relationship both within and outside their marriage, makes the story. Of course, with lot of drama or masala included in it too. Inspite of being so beautiful a woman, she is ignored by her indifferent husband ( who has extra-marital affair with a student ), while her mother is more concerned about society than her daughter's happiness. How Rihana deals with all the troubles in her life and comes out of it. There are hot scenes in the book, but not repetitive and are only in the right places - hence, it is not vulgar. It was intriguing to follow Rihana's thought process throughout the book. The ending was well executed ( though could've been better ).

Great book to read while travelling, and yes ~ by both men and women.
