PAV BHAJI - A MUST TO EAT WHILE IN BOMBAY/MUMBAI

Before Bombay became my home, I used to lap it up as a tourist. Every year when I was in school, I’d hope to ‘go-bombay’ during my holidays. See the picture and you’ll understand why. A plate of hot Pav-Bhaji, so authentic to Bombay ~ it is one dish that can leave your taste-buds rolling ~ and urge you literally to taste it again. It tempted me to come back to Bombay again and again; because, back in my home-town it was quite un-heard of. Not really a ‘healthy’ dish, if you include the huge dollop of butter ( as you can see in the picture ), it is one dish that truly defines the place Amchi-Bambai.

If you are in Bombay, you’ve simply got to taste it. And for one day you gotta ignore those calorie conscious alerts that your mind keeps pinging at you. Because, the butter does add on to the taste, making it irresistible! The onion rings at the sides along with a dash of lemon, makes it so mouthwatering ~ almost as though you are tasting something sinfully-heaven ( if that’s the right word combination to describe the experience ;-)

The first place I ever tasted the dish was at Khao-gali near Victoria Terminus Station ( CST ). Costing merely 10-bucks in early days, its price has now shot up steeply and currently costs 100INR. At 5star+ places, it may cost more, as this is street-food having on the street itself we’re talking about. The place is clean and hygienic, so no other issues there for a quick bite. It’ll make a difference in your life, trust me. You’ll never forget the memory of eating the first Pav Bhaji ~ like I never did. Watching the men prepare it right before your own eyes is another experience altogether.

that butter...ooohhh
