WALKING THE HAUNTED MADH MARVE ROAD - INDIAS MOST HAUNTED

My visit to Madh island was to kill two birds with one stone. First, visit the famous but restricted madh fort somehow; and second, walk the very haunted madh-marve road. I was done with my fort visit, so, quickly set to do the next exciting adventure - i.e walk the haunted road. The island is quite quaint and doesn't have much population, so, I found most parts of the road quite deserted, except near the jetty. The fort itself was situated on a remote corner. So, walkng back to the place where I reached the Madh-Marve road was spooky in itself with tall looming trees and not a soul around except, moi. I don't get scared easily, so, I just enjoyed. This particular haunted road starts from the jetty itself and goes around the island towards south, then west, then north and then east upwards connecting to mainland Malad/Borivali. Its quite long ( almost 15kms ) and passes through thick mangrove forests as well as stretches of tall trees. It also has picturesques beaches, resorts and private villas along the way, as well as salt pans and couple of fishing villages. Near the mangroves is where the main haunted part lies; although, it is said the entire road along with the beaches are haunted. Many accidents have occurred in the beaches too esp Aksa Beach with multiple drowning incidents as well as murders and body dumping.

The main story behind the hauntings - It is said a young bride was murdered by her own husband on their wedding night after taking her out on pretext of a drive. He sped the car into a truck and jumped off the car himself, while the car crashed and the new bride died on spot. No one knows the motive. Her body was disposed off later in the nearby mangroves. Since that day there has been multiple stories by various drivers on that road, of appearances of a young woman in bridal wear, of anklets sounds and also screams for help and cries. She appears in front of drivers, distracts them and causes accidents. People are advised not to look directly in her eye if she appears. The road is to be strictly avoided after dark. There are also other stories of fatal car/bus crashes that has happened on this road, causing those souls to wander around as well. Well, I didn't come across her or any other spirit, but I enjoyed my walk till wherever I could. Its quite a long road so, I quit after covering almost halfway. I'm planning to walk from the other side too another time soon. Hope I encounter her then. Oh..how I love walking haunted roads. Its another kinda thrill altogether to travel places that already has such a wild repute!
