Sometimes you want to see some interesting place, but donot want to go beyond the city. Its difficult to find nature amidst a concrete jungle. But, as they say, when you sincerely yearn for something, the entire universe conspires to arrange it for you. Only, this conspiracy was existing all along. When you enter Thane city, you can't help but notice the looming hills in its backdrop. Its the Yeoor hills. While in the city, its a must visit for tourists and nature lovers. And its quite easy to reach, as its right in the city itself. Its a buffer area of the vast Sanjay Gandhi National Park. I decided to go and see its beauty for myself, which, I had been hearing since forever. So, it was a nice pleasant day when I drove my scooty towards Yeoor. Let the pictures do the talking ;-)

the uphill ride begins...
the climb starts immediately and its quite a steep ride ahead...
beautiful nonetheless, there are various sign boards educating about the flora and fauna of Sanjay Gandhi National Park, and also couple of leopard warnings...
the uphill ride continues...I can only imagine how magical it might get during monsoons...
the nature lover in me admiring the trees from up close...
I pause and admire the sheer beauty of this place
some more trees... there's a wide variety...some are also used as herbs by the locals...

Yeoor is a hilly area in Thane city of Maharashtra state in India. Situated in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, it is known for its panthers and wildlife and is popularly known as "Mumbai's National Park". Yeoor has 6 villages and couple of resorts. ( wiki )
