RIDE THROUGH GHODBUNDER ROAD, SGNP AND DISCOVERING A GEM - GAIMUKH CHOWPATTY

Sometimes you discover some 'gems' around you which you were ignorant for years inspite of being so close to them. I always did know about Ghodbunder road, as it connects Borivali to Thane and I've travelled via it quite a few times - but, by public transport such as taxi and bus. So, only passed through it without ever halting. The road passes along the northern most edges of Sanjay Gandhi National Park ( SGNP ) with the Vasai creek giving company some part of the route. While you do enjoy the greenery on one side and water body on the other side with hills surrounding, the dust and grime of this busy road usually makes you nonchalant about it. However, I decided to explore the place more at leisure; and, what better way to do it than your own vehicle. Thats where my scooty came into the picture. With your own vehicle, one can stop where one wishes and for however long they want. So, off I went on a ride to this famous and very busy road. Did I discover anything interesting? Of course, I did. however, I was not in a hurry and decided to stop and admire the faraway hills...

Revealing the Gem ¬ Gaimukh Chowpatty ¬¬
there's a temple on the hill overlooking the chowpatty with some pretty steep steps...

calm and soothing...it took my breath away..
Gaimukh Chowpatty, Thane West, is a beautiful place having a temple situated in a hill beside Thane Creek. Its a popular place for the locals and tourists alike. With lots of food stalls near by and a trekking trail it gets crowded in the evenings. Lots of cultural activities takes place as well, so, don't miss it if you're around

Ghodbunder Road, nearly 20 km long, it runs through several key localities of Thane West such as Kasarvadavali, Kavesar, Hiranandani Estate, Brahmand, Patlipada, Manpada and Majiwada. The Ghodbunder Road is considered as the most important roadway in Thane City, alongwith the Eastern Express Highway. The road connects the Eastern Express Highway in Thane to the Western Express Highway in Bhayander. ( wiki )
