The venue was quite familiar, as I've been to Palladium quite a few times. However, a book launch at FoodHall was a first time for me. Vikas Khanna - been hearing this name since ages now and all girls I know seems to be having a crush on him :s So, naturally I was curious to find out what he was all about, to send girls swooning at their feet this way. When I entered, the mall was already filling up. I met the PR of the event, with whom I had communicated earlier.
Foodhall @ Palladium saw a horde of excited people stream in gradually on Thursday evening for the launch of celebrated chef Vikas Khanna’s book Shaken & Stirred. Over 100 Foodhall customers gathered at Foodhall@ Palladium for the love of food. You can see all the enthusiastic people eagerly waiting for the Michelin Star Chef to show up. The place looked like a set of some cookery show. Imagine that, right in the middle of a shopping mall!
The evening turned out better as the Michelin star Chef appeared soon. I saw girls going ooohh...aaahh...at the very sight of him. One thing I noticed is that the Dude is very talkative ( which he also admitted - making reference to Sanjeev Kapoor, where the latter completes making 20 recipes by the time VK manages to finish 1, while chatting away non-stop ). But the best thing is, all his talks are entertaining; so you are laughing away as he keeps cracking jokes ( mostly on himself ). And what more he also whipped the Mocktails live, straight from his latest book!
Entertaining the audience as he made those Mocktails ;-)
Demonstrating his exceptional mixology skills to the excited crowd, Chef Vikas showed the fascinated audience how to make the Mocktails - Lime to Lemons and Green Machine while keeping them entertained with his personal asides. From delicious teas to refreshing slushies and classic drinks, Vikas guided the audience on how to create unique and exquisite drinks that would keep their guests satisfied and have them coming back for more.
Go...get the book today :-)
The Masterchef India’s judge got into the groove of selfie shutterbugs along with the Foodhall customers. He made the moment for his fans even more special with his autograph on their personal copy of the book. By the time he got lost amongst his crazy girl fans, I left for home, convinced that he did have some appeal after all to make females go this way. Did I become his fan? I haven't tasted his food, nor read his books; but his sense-of-humour surely found a fan in me. I'd definitely try out his recipes some day ~ 'ras-pi' as he pronounces it!
Trained at the Culinary Institute of America, Vikas Khanna runs the upscale restaurant Junoon in Manhattan. Having started a catering company at the age of 17 in Amritsar, he has been regularly featured on various international television shows such as Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, Masterchef Australia and The Martha Stewart Show.
