KOROLI HILL STATION, NASHIK - AN UNEXPLORED VIRGIN GREEN PARADISE

Photo Travelogue!

Just a few years back I discovered the raw and virgin beauty of Koroli Hill Station. Cocooned in the Western Ghats, virtually untouched, and just 2 hours away from the hustle-bustle of a busy city like Bombay ( and 3 hrs from Shirdi ), it is a little piece of green heaven; pristine and one that brings you close to nature. The greenery is so captivating, that you really feel relaxed and welcomed in its embrace. The peaceful and picturesque blue Vaitarna Lake, with the mountainous backdrop of the majestic Sahyadris is like an artist’s masterpiece ~ a work-of-art coming to life in front of your eyes. I fell in love with the place instantly. The journey too is soothing, as you go up the meandering hills at an altitude of over the 2k MSL. With the climate pleasant all year round, it becomes a paradise during the monsoons with mesmerizing water-falls cascading down the nearby hills, giving off breath-taking views.

Near Koroli, there are a whole lot of things to do and sights to visit. Nearby is Igatpuri surrounded by some of the highest peaks in the Western Ghats, with some really good rock-climbing, trekking options esp at Bhandardara and Kalsubai Peak etc, ( incidently Koroli has the first trekking insititute of India ); there’s a Vipassana meditation centre there as well. And facility of kayaking too is available right at the backwaters of Vaitarna Lake. The reverse water-falls of Anajeri, near its fort ( of same name ), where gravity works in opposite direction against the wind is a sight not to be missed along with its religious importance too of being Hanuman’s birth place and the famous Shirdi and Trimbakeshwar Temple and holy city of Nashik not far off too, from Koroli.

There are many villas, apartments and resorts available on rent that gives everyone the ideal location to lap up nature. With so many activities, this is one less travelled place waiting for nature lovers to be explored fully.

Nashik is a city in Maharashtra which has a multitude of hill stations and places of religious significance situated around it.
