A VISIT TO THE INDIA BRIDGE, KUTCH, AT THE INTERNATIONAL BORDER WITH PAKISTAN, NEAR KALO DUNGAR

Photo Travelogue :

From Kalo Dungar, it takes about half-hour to the India Bridge. This Bridge ( visible from atop the Kalo Dungar too ), is near the Pakistan border, hence, photography is strictly prohibited. We were allowed to cross the bridge, although, was asked not to stop on the bridge itself, by the BSF posted there. We came across what looked like an army/BSF compound ( some 80 kilometers from here is the Vighakot post ). There were lots of armed BSF men, who looked amused at us, when the cab-wala told them that we just came to see, and nothing else ~ didn't pose any threat. I could not click any pictures ( didn't want to be shot dead ). One can see the nearest Pakistani village and International border from there ( although, those are a bit are far away ). In the BSF compound, 10 kms from the bridge, was some war memorial and a BSF colony 'dharmsala'!

As though, taking 2000/- for the entire trip was not enough, the cab-wala too ate and made me pay for his meal, hmmph! After lunch, we finally headed to the White Rann of Kutch...

Khavda is a village ( last in Indian Border ) in Bhuj Taluka of Kutch district of Gujarat, India. It lies on the west side of Pachham Island in Greater Rann of Kutch.
Kalo Dungar or Black Hill is the highest point in Kutch, Gujarat, India, at 462 m. It is located 97 km from District headquarters of Bhuj and 25 km from nearest town Khavda. This is probably the only place in Kachchh from where a panoramic view of the Great Rann of Kutch is possible. ( wiki ).
