After a quick 'thali' lunch in Khavda village, we headed back the road ( south ) till we reached the fork again. It was already 1 pm and I was in a mad rush now to reach White Rann. Its another almost an hour+ from the fork till the White desert ( west turn from the fork ). Do bring in some ID proof along, as we have to apply for permit to enter the area ~ being border zone, plus, they need the money, lol. So, the incredible journey continues ~ with many surprises in between...

the border check post at one edge of the fork...
applying for permit to go to West Kutch - Rs.100 per person/- vehicles extra...

the famous tent resort in Dhordo, next to white rann...
after taking tour of one of the tent cities, we hit the road again...
till we reach what looks like an entrance...is it the one?
pass by these where various stalls are put up during the festival/Utsav...

colourful flags starts appearing on either sides of the long flat road...
till we reach the third and final gate, beyond it lies the White Rann...
Dhordo/Dhorodo The land is flat and seemingly devoid of life. It has a thick layer of salt and the soil is mostly clay, that does not absorb water. The long monsoon season fills this vast area with water, which is saline due to the salt in the soil. This creates a small sea and some high lands become small islands. This water evaporates only due to the desert sun. The water fully evaporates only by April ( wiki ).
Address : Dhordo, Kutch district, Gujarat, India
