After Amer and Jaigarh, it was time to head to Nahargarh Fort, which was the retreat as well as hunting palace of the king(s). Its near both the other forts and falls in the Jaigarh route itself.
At #Nahargarh #Fort wondering if the king would've built the 10th palace for me...like he did for his other 9 wives! pic.twitter.com/kG23R1OlFK

so, lets begin...shall we?
in the fork, take left instead of right ( to Jaigarh ), to reach Nahargarh...
with thorny bushes on both its sides, the road wore a deserted look...
Nahargarh from outside, takes slightly longer than it took to reach Jaigarh...
go inside the compound and come across these signs by ASI ~ the rates!
I showed the ticket I bought at Amer, as it'd cover this site too...
a 'chatri' with prayers offered just inside the compound, in some kings memory...
can see Jaipur city below, from here...
the insides of the compound...
steps to the ( locked ) bawri- stepwell, in the front courtyard...
the Mahavendra Palace, it has 9 identical suites for the 9 queens...
main suite was for the king himself...
this greets me at the entrance...
the inside compound of the palace, its all ochre, mustardy yellow...
entrance ~ to one of the suites...
each suite is named after the queen it belonged to...
upstairs...
exploring the various chambers, corridors, stair-ways around the palace...
These ancient kings wer smart asses! While da commoners slogged in heat of da plains, dey enjoyed from the hills above pic.twitter.com/58bQ3MGWOP

view of Jaipur city down, just below the fort...
interesting paintings of various objects made in the walls...
bedroom of one of the queens? note the cupboard spaces on the left?
if your finger doesn't touch, its the original mirror; if it does, its new...
the roof of the palace, with its 10 domes...
me tries out a mirror selfie, before leaving the palace, awestruck...
Thus, my trip to the trio forts ended. The auto was kind enough to drop me off at Jal Mahal, just outside of the hill that had the other forts. I wasn't done yet! The City Palace ( with the Hawa Mahal ) was in my mind too, but lets stroll along the Jal Mahal first...
Nahargarh Fort ( originally named Sudarshangarh ), built in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II as a royal retreat, stands on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the city of Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Along with Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh once formed a strong defense ring for the city ( wiki ).
Address : Krishna Nagar, Brahampuri, Jaipur, Rajasthan 302002
