KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL BOMBAY | MUMBAI 2025

Photo Travelogue :

With the mega blocks announced recently around the republic day weekend, I had limited time to make a quick trip to the very gorgeous and happening Kala Ghoda Arts Festival that is held in the prime fort region of south Bombay which is a good 1+ hour distance by train. I grabbed my phone - the one I use to click pics and set off. I had to be back before the mega-block started, which would be towards late evening. So, in scorching heat ( yea, its January - but its quite hot here ) I hopped on the train. I grabbed some sandwiches and munched on them. The journey was pretty good till there was only 1 station left to my destination. But the train I was on came to a screeching halt. Another train was on the same track coming from opposite end. We had to sit a good 45 minutes inside the train before the chaos ended and I finally reached VT ( CST ). It was after a long time I was in this part of the city and had almost forgotten. I decided to take a shared taxi which was going just there. My luck. Within couple of minutes I was in the Navy Nagar end of the Kala Ghoda lane where the festival was going on. On reaching, I was informed that I had to register my entry via mobile. The entry is free, but registration via mobile was mandatory. Now, now...after my two phones being stolen twice, I never carry my main phones anywhere. The one that I carry has no SIM and I use it only for photography. I was in a fix. Damn, how do I get in now. The lady who was checking those QR codes in people's mobiles, did let me in eventually. So, yay! I went in without the registration. Here's a look at the festival through my eyes. Enjoy ;-)

  3. A colorful and interesting festival. I am glad they let you in without your phone. We are seeing more of that here where you are expected to use a smart phone to pay for admission and then display a code for admittance.
