1ST TRIP

I was at the fag end of my journey. Sendhwa ( after Khalghat ) was the last point in MP before entering Dhule in Maharashtra. In excitement, I started driving early morning and got bit lost in the confusing interstate check-point. By mistake, I went in some truck lane first; then, to get back on the right track I drove the wrong side of road ( with headlights on and cars and trucks coming my way in full speed ) :o Scary haan! It was all good after I finally found my way. After that, I drove for two and half hours before halting near the highway to freshen up. I was so close to Dhule now. As per my calculations I'd reach Bombay by late evening or early morning. It was the 7th day and although, I enjoyed my trip thoroughly, I was bit exhausted too. Very soon..Dhule came and then Malegaon. I was stopped by Maharashtra police who asked me bewildered where I was going with such a loaded car. I told them - 'Bambai jaa rahe hai'. I think they were amused seeing how I had packed my car. It was filled to its brim. I had Assam number plate, so they must've thought I was new in Bombay and had packed all my boriya-bistar and come. ( which I did, heheh :-)

dhaba break......

You know you've entered Maharashtra when you see the beautiful Sahyadris approaching and traversing the various ghat sections. The roads ( although with many twists and turns in the ghats ) are awesome and beautifully decorated with different coloured bougainvilleas ( pink, white, red, orange, yellow, purple, green ) in the mid-section of the entire road. I felt at home once I was in Maharashtra. Near towns however, there were huge speed breakers which nearly broke my back.

the grape vine yards of Nashik...

At around 1.30 pm or so I reached Nashik. I had lunch near the town. I called my mother to say I was only three hours from Bombay now. She was happy as well as shocked and couldn't believe it that I could make it after all - she had lots of apprehensions and anxiety regarding the trip.

crossing the beautiful Kasara Ghats...

Once I crossed the kasara ghats...my journey was almost over. I did little time pass and rested. Here, I also shuffled and re-arranged my stuff. They were scattered everywhere. It was peak time around 6.30pm I reached Bombay and met face-to-face it's horrendous traffic. The traffic delayed it a bit...and by 8pm I reached home. Whoa...what a journey it was. I loved every moment of it.
