ICONIC MOUNT MARY CHURCH AT BANDRA

Appearing in various hindi movies, this church dating back to the 1500's is famous for its Bandra fair held on 8th Sept every year. It is said, the Mount Mary statue possesses magical healing powers, capable of fulfilling the deepest desires of those who seek its blessings. I visited the church out of curiosity. But to my dismay, I found that it was undergoing renovations. Hence, an artificial tent was spread and prayer hall created in the courtyard itself with the statues on one side.

Planning to come back to attend the annual Bandra fair in its grounds. Till then ceeeaaaooo :-)

For over a hundred years situated atop a hillock near Lands End Bandra, overlooking the Arabian Sea is Mount Mary's Basilica, a beautiful edifice in stone ( wiki ).
