PICTURESQUE BRAHMAPUTRA

Photo Travelogue :

North-east boasts of the mighty Brahmaputra river that originates in Tibet and then flows into India ( entering Arunachal Pradesh & Assam ), ultimately flowing out to Bangladesh where it meets the Bay of Bengal. Unlike most other rivers in India, which are considered 'female' and given female names too, the Brahmaputra on the other hand is considered male, as its name suggests. It has various tributaries feeding into it, and is considered as main lifeline of the states it passes by. While there are plenty of places to view the beauty of this magnificent river, here are some shots of it that I clicked during my recent visit to the north-east. Enjoy ;-)

there's the peacock island!

time simply flies...

its calm waters can be quite the opposite during monsoons...

The Brahmaputra, also known as the Yarlung Tsangpo in Tibet, the Siang/Dihang River in Arunachal Pradesh, Luit in Assamese, and Jamuna River in Bangladesh, is a trans-boundary river which flows through Tibet, India, and Bangladesh ( wiki ).
