TRIMBAKESHWAR TEMPLE, TRIMBAK, NASHIK KUMBH MELA PART 2

Photo Travelogue :
Read first part - Here!

It was the Kumbh Season, and I was at the very famous Trimbakeshwar Temple, Nashik, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The complex ( made of black stone ) has other temples too; a lake, a pond and the river Godavari in the vicinity - all having their own religious significance. I had reached there in the morning and spent few hours observing the place. I didn't go for darshan ( well...not the religious sort, me ), but, definitely watched 'faith' of the masses at full display there, in awe. I managed to click pictures of all things that caught my attention - although, people kept coming in the frame all the time. After all, it was the Kumbh Mela. So, no escaping the people, right? Some pictures below catching the various aspects of the temple premises and more :-)

BOMBAY ( MUMBAI ) TO NASHIK BY RAIL

Photo Travelogue :

Although, since young, we've heard various stories of the Kumbh Mela, how people separated in the Mela for years get united again in Kumbh. Seen plenty movies of the same too. However, we don't get opportunity to visit one ourselves, do we, due to various reasons. But thankfully, when I was in full travel-mode, and covered many places in that year ( 2015 ), the Mahakumbh was coming up too, which I could not resist. It is the Kumbh that comes once in twelve years, although, there are other kumbhs that happen in other holy cities every 6 or 3 months too. This one was huge! So, naturally, I had to be there. Not for religious purpose though, just to enjoy the sheer human extravaganza and be part of history - like saying, haa hum bhi Kumbh Mele mein gaye the kabhi... Nashik is three hour from Bombay, so I had to catch a really early morning train...

people leaving in buses, waiting in tents...

Since it was the Kumbh season, the station was over crowded with pilgrims, that spilled over to the roads. Various tent arrangements were made around the station itself. I had a bus to catch to Trimbakeshwar, where the Kumbh Mela was going on. So, took a bus from Nashik Road Station to Nashik Central ( old ) Bus stand 8 kms away ( 20min ) which is nearer the main city, where I could catch the main bus to Trimbak. ( Nashik road is little far from main Nashik city ).
