A DAY TRIP TO KOROLI, MAHARASHTRA

Photo Travelogue :

Koroli is a very pretty hill station, 3 hours from Bombay, ( very easily accessible & quite pocket friendly ) near Nashik. The famous Trimbakeshwar Temple of Nashik is just fourty minutes or so away. Surrounded by Sahyadri mountains, with the Vaitarna back-waters in its back drop..it is an ideal place to visit during the cooler months and before Monsoon sets in. Although, I'd love it equally in the monsoons too. Its quite un-travelled, hence, not crowded and perfect for a quick day trip. There are nice villas and resorts around, for those planning a slightly longer trip. Koroli also has the first trekking institute of Maharashtra. The highest peak of Sahyadri mountains, Kalsubai, is also at just half hour distance. With the Vaitarna Dam and its backwaters near the vicinity, it makes it an adventurous place, no doubt. We were there to review two properties, hence, started quite early. Once out of the crowded Bombay streets, we hit the highway and enjoyed the view. With couple other bloggers, we chatted and gossiped too on the way, but naturally ;-)

It was a short but refreshing trip. Clear blue skies, black to brown hills, golden-greens all around, we couldn't have asked for more. We got little lost while going to the 2nd property, but the incident made the trip more adventurous. By evening we were back in Amchi Bammbai ;-)

VAITARNA RIVER | LAKE, MAHARASHTRA

Photo Travelogue :
Read first part - Here!

When one travels from Bombay to outstation by Central Railway ( via Kalyan ), one passes through many hills ( Sahyadris ) & tunnels, whereas, if one travels by Western Railways ( via Borivali ) one comes across lakes and rivers. Virar Lake and then the Vaitarna that we passed by, looked simply gorgeous. The hills and fields at a distance made the views more enchanting. Vaitarna lake and river, both serves as an important water source for us Bombaites.
